Service notes
The M1842 was produced in the standard .69 caliber for muskets. Many of these muskets were converted M1840's that had their flintlock mechanisms replaced with the new percussion cap system. Originally being produced with smoothbore barrels, these models proved to be inaccurate and would later have rifling be added to allow for the use of the new Minié ball. The M1842 spouted a total length of 58in and a weight of 10lbs, with a total of 275,000 muskets being manufactured. In War of Rights, press "5" to toggle ammo types.
